Egbin Generates 1, 100 Megawatts Electricity
Authorities at Nigeria’s largest power generation plant, Egbin Power Plc, said yesterday that it had maintained a consistent generation of 1,100 megawatts of electricity into the country’s national grid in the last three weeks.
The company Chairman, Mr. Kola Adesina, made this known to Saturday Vanguard in a telephone conversation.
According to him, “vandalism has been a great threat to the country’s electricity power stability and as such should be tackled with technology.
“We have consistently continued to generate 1, 100 megawatts in the last three weeks except for occasional load shedding.
“Nigeria witnessed a power output of 4,883 megawatts two days ago and this was the highest capacity generated ever.
“Invariably, there has been more power to the consumers. We have had sporadic cases of vandalism of the transmission facilities though.
“However, the threats to the current state of the country’s power supply, especially vandalism, can be conquered via technology and better policing.”
