The countdown to the 16th edition of Future Energy holding in Nigeria on November 12, has begun. The objective of this conference is to boost partnerships and the production of effective solutions to support the energy sector while making it more sustainable. More than 1,700 participants are expected in Lagos to rethink the future of West Africa’s electricity supply.

The conference was previously held under the name West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC). The organisers present the event as the major event, bringing together energy experts from Nigeria and West Africa.

A statement by the organisers yesterday said the event will give participants the opportunity to discuss current topics related to electricity with executives from the energy and electricity sector. The event also includes a trade show that will provide an opportunity to showcase the solutions of international and local suppliers.

“The profiles that will be found at Future Energy Nigeria are quite varied: government officials, power generation companies, power transmission and distribution companies, developers, investors,” the statement said

In the margins of the conference exhibition, a knowledge hub session will be organised during the two-day conference. This knowledge hub will be presented as a training session where participants will be equipped to implement certain energy solutions, such as the process of installing solar panels.

Some of the themes on the programme include practical training (pre-conference for students) from A to Z of solar panel installation; To close Nigeria’s energy access gap; Electrification solutions and the dynamics around mini grids.

The Future Energy East Africa, which is the largest and oldest regional energy conference in East Africa, was also held in Kenya last September.
