Drop of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) power allocations to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), from 692.5mw to 368.5mw has brought pressure on the network, causing serious power outage.

A spokesperson of the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company said yesterday that the states under its franchise will experience prolonged power outages due to the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) low weekly power allocation to its network (TCN).

IBEDC’s senior communication officer, Kikelomo Owoeye, who issued a statement in Osogbo yesterday said the power outage would affect the states of Ogun, Oyo, Ibadan, Osun, and Kwara.

He appealed to the electricity consumers under the IBEDC franchise to bear with the organization.  TCN’s weekly power allocation to the IBEDC network had dropped from 692.5 megawatts to 368.5 megawatts, according to the statement.

“As a result, massive load shedding has occurred across our franchise in Ogun, Oyo, Ibadan, Osun, and Kwara. Please bear with us as we work with stakeholders across the electricity value chain to find a long-term solution,” the IBEDC said.
