Fifteen (15) unidentified bodies have so far been recovered from the Abule Ado explosion, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency boss, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintiolu has confirmed.

The explosion which occurred about 9am on Sunday morning at Abule Ado in Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos state destroyed about 50 buildings with the shockwave felt 15 kilometres away from Abule Ado.

Several injured victims are currently receiving medical attention, Oke-Osanyintiolu said some were due to shock.

Among the several buildings seriously affected by the explosion was Bethlehem Girls College – girls-only boarding school at Festac. Orient Energy Review confirmed that the students were rescued as those injured are receiving treatment in hospitals at different locations.

However, rescue operations are still ongoing by officials of the fire service, red cross and security agencies as residents try to salvage what is left of their belongings.

About eight (8) hours after, rescue officials are still battling to put out the fire caused by an explosion.
