The Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone has announced the extension of the deadline for its Fourth Licensing round. According to the Directorate, the extension was its response to the requests from interested investors to have more time to complete and submit their applications.

The revised 4th bid round which was reopened in May will remain open until February 28, 2020. The ongoing licensing round fully opens Sierra Leone’s offshore waters for petroleum licensing and Features a more flexible Block framework as the basis for licensing.

The Directorate hinted that direct tender for License Applications are available where 50% or more of the application area is in water depths in excess of 2,500 meters and all other License Applications fall under an open tender.

The new deadline is applicable to both direct and open tenders. It further stated that minimum work program is required for the initial exploration period.
