The Transition Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said that it has energized the second 330kV Akangba – Ikeja West line, which had before a recent fire incident served as a redundant line on that axis.

The vandalized pipeline fire brought down five towers and a 330kV line, the company public affairs manager Mrs. Ndidi Mbah said in a statement last weekend.

The statement said TCN boss, Engr Dr. Sule Abdulaziz inspected the site of the incident, while the second 330kV line which tripped during the incident was patrolled by TCN engineers and certified okay before it was energized.

Mrs. Mbah said the line was energized now wheels 121MW to the Akangba Transmission Substation.  This means that areas under Ikeja Disco whose supply were affected by the pipeline fire incident will now have normal supply of electricity, she said.

She said that TCN has already directed two contractors to mobilize to site to commence the reconstruction of the towers and 330kV line. According to her, there is need for everyone to be part of the fight against destruction of the nation’s assets anywhere in the country.
