Buhari’s Refining Roadmap to Fetch Nigeria 1.4mbpa Within 5yrs – NCMDB boss

Executive secretary of the Nigerian Content Management and Development Board (NCDMB), Mr. Simbi Wabote has expressed confidence in the Refining Roadmap rolled out by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said that the President’s refining roadmap contain combined refining capacities of more than 1.4million barrels per day, expected from the focus-four areas within the next five years. Wabote also pointed out that the NCMDB is acting as catalyst to segments of the Refining Roadmap.

He itemized the focus areas as the rehabilitation of existing 4 national refineries, co-location of new refineries, construction of Greenfield refineries, and construction of modular refineries.

“Combined Refining capacities of more than 1.4million barrels per day is expected from these focus areas within the next 5 years.

“About 400,000bpd is expected from the rehabilitation of NNPC in Port Harcourt, Warri, and using target performance of not less than ninety percent of nameplate capacity.

“The Greenfield element of the roadmap covers the mechanically complete 650,000bpd in Lagos and the 200,000bpd BUA Refinery in state.

“In the aspect of Modular Refineries, is serving as a catalyst to enhance realization of the Refining Roadmap. Our partnership with Waltersmith resulted in the delivery of the 5,000barrels per day modular refinery in state currently in operations,” Mr. Wabote stated.

He revealed that plans are on the way to unveil the 2,500barrels per day Duport Modular Refinery located in Edo State before year end.

Others under construction are the 2,000barrels per day Atlantic Refinery and the 12,000barrels/day Azikel Hydro-skimming Refinery both in state.
