The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote has been presented with the African Local Content Icon award during the 2021 African Business Leadership conference organized by the African Leadership Magazine.

Speaking during the award ceremony on Friday 24th September, 2021 at the Nigerian Content Tower, Bayelsa State, the Managing Director of African Leadership Magazine, UK, Mr. Kingsley Okeke said that about 600 people from Nigeria, Ghana and other countries of Africa nominated Engr. Wabote for the award while about 15,000 voted for him from across the world.

Mr. Okeke noted that the award was presented virtually to Engr. Wabote on September 17, 2021 but it became imperative that a formal physical ceremony be organized in honour of the award.

In his reaction, the awardee, Engr. Wabote thanked the organizer of the award ceremony and the NCDMB management for the honour and trust bestowed on him and for finding him worthy of the award.

He also appreciated those who nominated and voted for him and appealed for more cooperation from stakeholders of oil and gas industry in Nigeria in order to help NCDMB actualize its objectives and fulfil its mandates and programs.

The award ceremony which was attended by leaders and stakeholders in oil and gas industry across Africa and beyond, featured presentation of cultural display by various groups including cultural dance by Bayelsa State Cultural group.
