Cummins Nigeria has installed a 25.75 MW power plant at Sapele Power Plc in Delta State, Nigeria.

The commissioning of the gas-fired plant which is billed to come on stream in the third quarter of this year will provide power to Nigerian homes and industries. The company said the first phase will generate enough power to supply 200,000 homes in Nigeria, while the following phases will add additional capacity (MW) until the total installation reaches 300 MW as per the signed power purchase agreement (PPA) between Cummins Nigeria and Sapele Power Plc.

Project Manager, Cummins Nigeria, Sudipta Mazumdar said at full capacity, enough power will be generated to supply electricity to all the homes in Delta State which has an estimated population of 4million people. The power plant will be financed, owned, operated and maintained by Cummins Nigeria through its in-house capabilities. With over 200 engineers in Nigeria, the service offered allows for 24/7 operations to its customers.
