The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has blamed the persisting blackout in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers on the rupture of gas-bearing pipelines to power stations in the states.

Manager of Corporate Communications of the company, Mr John Onyi, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Port Harcourt. He assured that the company was taking steps to quickly restore electricity to customers in the states.

Onyi said that the company would ensure that electricity received from the national grid, based on the current power situation, would be evenly distributed and aligned to systematic load-shedding.

He appealed to customers to bear with the company for the inconveniences the outage may cause during the period of repair of the pipelines.
