Petrohub, an e-trade platform for the distribution of oil, gas products and allied services in Nigeria was launched on Wednesday in Lagos by the Oil and Gas Service Providers Association of Nigeria (OGSPAN).

Petrohub, an integrated solution provider is the first online petroleum product digital market in Nigeria where suppliers and buyers meet on a daily basis to transact business with minimal human interference. The event saw the convergence of key stakeholders in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, financial institutions, insurance among others.

Speaking at the event, the President of OGSPAN, Mazi Colman Obasi said that Petrohub.com.ng is Africa’s/Nigeria’s number one oil and gas marketplace with a mission to provide a real-time innovative technology marketplace where oil and gas suppliers, buyers and product owners and transporters interact and trade. 

Obasi enumerated some of the Petrohub’s objectives to include: “to provide a real-time electronic marketplace where depot owners, suppliers and buyers of petroleum products will transact business with minimal human interference.

“To make the processes and procedures in oil and gas distribution more efficient by providing live information and data on actual products volume available at the depots, pricing, truck ordering and scheduling fleet tracking for potential buyers.

“To promote the sales of products and services of our clients in a more transparent manner; to consciously create both social and economic values to shape critical social issues that will increasingly and continuously improve our business sustainability in our environment and ecosystem.”

Continuing, OGSPAN President said the Petrohub concept was sparked off by the need “to encourage the harnessing of resources and technical expertise by members and the formation of alliances for a competitive edge in the oil and gas marketplace.  

“To provide a common platform for the Nigerian oil and gas industry based service providers for the good of members and the value chain of oil resources on the Nigerian economy and the industrialization of Nigeria.

“To become the nexus for the exchange of ideas and information for the development and promotion of Nigerian content in the nation’s oil and gas industry.”

He stated that the trading and logistics company leverages innovation and technology to identify and fulfil each individual customer’s changing need by deploying the best human and machine resources to unlock the full potential of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the collaborative ecosystems in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.

Stating why Petrohub should be preferred to any other systems in the distribution of oil and gas products in Nigeria, especially the current system that has left Nigerians with perennial gridlock, loss of time, lives and property, Obasi hinted that PETROHUB has mechanisms in place to protect the interest of all parties involved in any transaction.

He said, “All products owners on our platform are thoroughly vetted before their products are listed for sale. Petrohub automates the payment of all the accrued service charges to all stakeholders. Our team facilitates the fast loading of any product(s) purchased through our platform.

“In case of product theft and under-delivery, the buyer is refunded from the transporters’ fund (withheld as payment balance) and erring transporters are sanctioned. We facilitate truck hiring, ordering and scheduling from different locations around the country,” Obasi enumerated.
