The maiden edition of the Nigerian Content Midstream/Downstream Oil & Gas Stakeholders Summit, hosted by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) comes up on May 23 & 24, 2022 at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos

The Summit is with the theme, ‘Maximizing Potentials in the Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Sector – A Local Content Perspective.’

Organisers said the summit will also be hoisted on Zoom to increase the opportunity for participation of industry stakeholders and members of the public.

In a statement signed by the NCMDB executive secretary, Engr.. Simbi Wabote, NCDMB said that the Nigerian oil and gas industry had witnessed major projects in the midstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry in the last six years some of which are not properly in the limelight.

They include the NLNG Train 7 Project, the AKK Gas pipeline, the Dangote 650,000 barrels per day refinery, amongst others.

Wabote explained that the NCDMB has also made huge investments in modular refineries, LPG storage and bottling plants and depots, amongst other interventions.

He said that despite the developments, the midstream and downstream sectors still lack coherent strategy to maximize the local content potential of these massive investments.

According to him, the workshop would articulate an agenda for actualizing the full potential of massive investments that have poured into the midstream and downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, with a view to maximizing the expected benefits to the national economy.

Minister of state for petroleum resources, Mr. Timipre Sylva and the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Mr. Mele Kyari, would be speakers at the event.

Other personalities expected include the chairman, Dangote Group, Mr. Aliko Dangote, executive chairman AA Holdings, Austin Avuru, chairman, BUA Group, Mr. Abdulsamad Rabiu among others.
