The Franco-American oil and gas company TechnipFMC has been awarded an onshore contract for project management, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPC) of the Gas to Power project in the Sankofa offshore field. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

In a statement issued by Reuters, TechnipFMC explained that the works will be executed by the company’s teams in Ghana and will end by mid-2018.

“We are proud to have secured this new contract that rewards the long-term commitment of TechnipFMC in Africa and will play a strategic role in the Gas to Power program in Ghana. This success is also the result of TechnipF ™’s sustainable development works in Ghana, particularly our permanent engineering center in Accra, “said Nello Uccelletti, President of the onshore / offshore branch of TechnipFMC.

Sankofa will enter service in 2018 and should allow the country to end its imports of electric power with a planned capacity of 1,000 MW of electricity.

The field is controlled and operated by Eni with 44% stake, Vitol with 35.6% and GNPC with 20%.
