Kwesi Appiah, coach of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, has announced that he wishes to build in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra region, a solar equipment manufacturing plant. To this end, he will be backed by Appiah-Karim Company Ltd and Palmer Group Company, respectively based in US and Germany. Worth €14.5 million, the plant will produce solar panels for the local market and result in the creation of at least 500 direct jobs for the youth of Ashaiman.

According to our source, the project is already backed by the German government. However, no deadline was announced in its framework.

Albert Boakye Okyere, the head of Ashaiman’s municipal services, welcomed the initiative and said he would contribute to the facilitation of its implementation. “Our interest is to get work for the young people in the Municipality”, he said.
